Día de Muertos is all about celebrating life and remembering loved ones, and we’re doing just that with a mix of family-friendly fun, thrilling games, and exclusive experiences. Whether you want to test your trivia skills, enjoy a private tequila tasting, or dance the night away, we’ve got something for everyone!

What is Day of the Dead?

Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is a Mexican tradition celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. It’s a joyous occasion where families gather to remember and honour their deceased loved ones, often by building colourful altars (ofrendas), decorating with marigolds, and offering food, drinks, and mementos. Unlike Halloween, which focuses on fear and the supernatural, Day of the Dead is a celebration of life and the continuation of the human spirit, filled with colour, music, and love. At The Anchor, we’re embracing this cultural phenomenon with a series of festive events throughout October and early November. Let’s dive into what’s in store!

Day of the Dead and Halloween – What’s the Connection?

While Halloween and Day of the Dead share similar themes—both occur around the same time of year and focus on spirits—there’s a key difference. Halloween, celebrated on 31st October, revolves around frightening the supernatural, while Día de Muertos is all about honouring and celebrating the lives of those who have passed on. At The Anchor, we’re blending these traditions by kicking off with a Halloween-themed event, followed by more traditional Día de Muertos celebrations later in the month.
